Names and forms are reality or Brahman at a symbolic or indirect level. What they are at a visible or perceptive level is only Maya or a relative appearance. We must take name and form, not as they appear to be, but for what they intimate, not for their practical reality but for their spiritual aesthetic. This is the Vedic way of ritual and meditation. Pg 157.


Paroksha priya hi devah,” meaning that the Gods or sages prefer what is paroksha, what is cryptic, symbolic, indirect or intuitive, while they dislike pratyaksha, whit is direct, evident, obvious or based upon the senses. Pg 169.
