Names and forms are reality or Brahman at a symbolic or indirect level. What they are at a visible or perceptive level is only Maya or a relative appearance. We must take name and form, not as they appear to be, but for what they intimate, not for their practical reality but for their spiritual aesthetic. This is the Vedic way of ritual and meditation.
